How do I approach solving quadratic function problems?
In this post, we will model, analyse and solve problems involving quadratic functions, as a part of the Prelim Maths Advanced course under the topic Working with Functions and sub-part Linear, Quadratic and Cubic Functions, specifically focusing on solving quadratic function problems. We will:
- Recognise features of the graph of a quadratic, including its parabolic nature, turning point, the axis of symmetry and intercepts
- Find the vertex and intercepts of a quadratic graph by either factorising, completing the square or solving the quadratic equation as appropriate
- Understand the role of the discriminant in relation to the position of the graph
- Find the equation of a quadratic given sufficient information
How do I solve quadratic functions?
This video covers a large range of questions, providing great worked solutions and step-by-step methodical procedures to factorise and solve quadratic function problems.
This video goes into major depth about how to approach solving and graphing a quadratic function, by finding its parabolic nature, turning point, the axis of symmetry and intercepts.
