How do I apply transformations to the absolute value function?
In this post, you use and apply the notation |x| for the absolute value of the real number x and the graph of y = |x| , and recognise the shape and features of the graph of y = |ax + b| and hence sketch the graph. This is part of the Prelim Maths Advanced course under the topic Working with Functions and sub-part Further Functions and Relations, specifically focusing on transformations of an absolute value function.
This video covers the transformations of an absolute value function and allows you to understand the vertical and horizontal shifts.
