In this post, we define the sum, difference, product and quotient of functions and consider their domains and ranges where possible. This is part of the Prelim Maths Advanced course under the topic Working with Functions and sub-part Introduction to Functions.
- Sum of two functions: (f+g)(x) = f(x) + g(x)
- Difference of two functions: (f-g)(x) = f(x) - g(x)
- Product of two functions: (f \times g)(x) = f(x) \times g(x)
- Quotient of two functions: (f \div g)(x) = f(x) \div g(x) Â ( g(x) \neq 0 )
