What is a Venn diagram?
In this post, we use Venn diagrams, set language and notation for events, including \bar{A} (or A' or A_{c} ) for the complement of an event A , A \cap B for ‘ A and B ’, the intersection of events A and B , and A \cup B for ‘ A or B ’, the union of events A and B , and recognise mutually exclusive events. This is a part of the Prelim Maths Advanced course under the topic Statistical Analysis and sub-part Probability and Venn diagrams. In this post, use everyday occurrences to illustrate set descriptions and representations of events and set operations.
