In the human body, we have the innate (non-specific) and adaptive (specific) immune systems to defend ourselves from pathogens. Innate responses include physical body barriers and defence mechanisms like phagocytosis and inflammation. Adaptive responses are the immune response involving T and B cells and antibodies.
