Mutations

Mutations are changes in the DNA information on a chromosome or a change in a gene. They are caused by mutagens including electromagnetic radiation sources, chemicals, and naturally occurring mutagens. The video below discusses mutagens and how they cause mutations.

Point mutation is a genetic mutation where a single nucleotide base is changed, inserted or deleted from a sequence of DNA.

Chromosomal mutation is a mutation that changes the structure of an individual chromosome.
