Absolute Maxima and Minima

This post will focus on finding the absolute maxima and minima of a function, as part of the VCE Maths Methods topic Calculus and subtopic Applications of Differentiation.

The minimum or maximum value of a function is called the ‘absolute’ or ‘global’ maxima or minima. This usually involves an interval with endpoint value. This restricts the domain of the function and means that only a specific section of the function is examined.

The following video looks at how to find the absolute extrema of a function within a restricted domain.
