Discrete Random Variables

Discrete Random Variables is a part of the VCE Maths Methods topic Probability and Statistics and subtopic Discrete Random Variables.

This section focuses on discrete random variables and understanding and analysing probability mass functions or probability density functions. It will also look at the shape of graphs in terms of the defining parameters for the probability distribution, and its mean and variance.

What Are Discrete Random Variables?

The following video introduces random variables, including the definition and notation, properties of discrete probability distributions and setting up a discrete probability distribution.

Probability Mass Function

The following video provides a simple explanation of the probability mass function.
