Identities Using the Modulus and Argument

Identities Using the Modulus and Argument is a section of VCE Specialist Maths and subtopic Mod-Arg Form. In this post we look at understanding the Modulus and Argument, and focusing on the following key concepts:

  • The modulus is the length of the line segment of a complex number from the origin in the Argand plane.
  • The argument is the angle from the positive axis to the line segment formed between a complex number and the origin in the Argand plane.

The Mod-Arg Form

The following video introduces the Mod-Arg form, and how to write complex numbers in this form.

This next video explores proofs and identities of the Mod-Arg form.
