Loci in the Complex Plane

Loci in the Complex Plane is a section of the VCE Specialist Maths topic Algebra and subtopic Complex Plane. In this post, we will learn to identify subsets of the complex plane determined by straight lines and circles, specifically complex numbers & loci. The main point to keep in mind is:

  • The locus of a point which is equidistant from two fixed points, A and B, in the complex plane bisects the line formed by A and B at a right angle.

What is a Loci?

The following video introduces what a loci is, and practices the concept using examples.

This next video looks at the locus as a perpendicular bisector.

This final video looks at loci using Argand diagrams.
