Particle Accelerators

In this lesson on Particle Accelerators, which is part of Unit 3 Area of Study 1 for VCE Physics, you will learn how to:

  • model the acceleration of particles in a particle accelerator (limited to linear acceleration by a uniform electric field and direction change by a uniform magnetic field).

What is a particle accelerator?

It is an apparatus for accelerating subatomic particles to high velocities by means of electric or electromagnetic fields. The accelerated particles are generally made to collide with other particles.
