Transformers are used to increase or decrease voltages and currents.
Basic formulae for transformers are the following:
 \frac{N_p}{N_s} = \frac{V_p}{V_s} = \frac{I_s}{I_p}Note that current is inversely proportional to the number of turns and voltage.
Power loss in transformers
As much as we would like transformers to be ideal, they aren’t. Some of the losses in a transformer are:
- Heat losses
- Eddy currents
- Flux leakage
To find power loss we use:
P_L = I^2 REddy Currents
