Magnetic Flux

This lesson is on Magnetic Flux, which is part of Unit 3 Area of Study 2 for VCE Physics.

What is magnetic flux?

The measurement of the total magnetic field which passes through a given area (shown in the videos below). It can change due to a few factors which include:

  • The area the flux is measured in (A)
  • The angle of the field (theta)
  • The intensity of the field (B)
\phi = B A cos(\theta)
  • Phi is the magnetic flux
