If you didn’t already know, your child will be sitting their NAPLAN tests in Year 7. They would have previously completed the assessments back in Year 3 and Year 5, and these tests cover:
- Reading & Writing
- Language Conventions
- Numeracy
We’ve got a handy breakdown of the NAPLAN exams for you to look at right here!
Spelling obviously plays a role in the Reading & Writing exam, but it plays an even more significant role in the Language Conventions exam — with an actual section dedicated to just spelling.
For the questions focussed on spelling, your child may be asked to identify a word that has been misspelt, and then provide the correct spelling OR they may simply be asked to correct the spelling of a word.
