  • Received the Morton Music Award of $500 from the Belmont Rotary Club for her exceptional performance on the piano.
  • Competed against high school students in her city and impressed the judges with her rendition of Haydn’s Sonata in D major, 1st Movement.
  • Demonstrated dedication and improvement through critical analysis of her own recordings, receiving feedback from her music tutor and teacher, and investing many hours of practice.
  • Performed for the Belmont Rotary Club during their awards ceremony, showcasing her musical talent and professionalism.

Mia is a remarkable individual who excels in both the realm of conservation and the world of music. Her achievement of receiving the prestigious Morton Music Award highlights her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft. Through her performance of Haydn’s Sonata in D major, 1st Movement, Mia captivated the judges with her technical expertise, interpretation, and musicality. The journey toward receiving the Morton Music Award was not an easy one. Mia dedicated countless hours to refining her skills, continuously analysing her performances, and seeking feedback from her music tutor and teacher. Her perseverance and determination allowed her to perfect her technique and develop a deep understanding of the piece. The award not only acknowledged her musical abilities but also helped Mia develop a newfound confidence in her talent.

In addition to her musical achievements, Mia actively engages in various activities that demonstrate her commitment to conservation and sustainability. She serves as part of the Student Representative Council at Merewether High School and holds the position of head of the fundraising committee. Through their efforts, Mia and her team organised two whole school dances, including sausage sizzles, to raise funds for the World’s Greatest Shave Leukaemia Foundation. This initiative showcases Mia’s leadership skills and her dedication to making a positive impact on society.

Furthermore, Mia has been an influential figure as the women’s Tennis Captain at her school, leading her team to success and representing Merewether High School at gala days. She has also contributed to environmental causes by being part of the envirogroup and raising awareness and funds to protect whale migrations from the Scarborough Gas project.

Mia’s passion for music extends beyond the piano. She has been playing the clarinet as part of the school band since Year 7 and has held the role of 1st clarinet. Her involvement in the Hunter Wind Ensemble allowed her to perform in various locations across Australia, showcasing her talent and dedication to music. Mia’s commitment to artistic expression and her dedication to her instrument make her a truly outstanding musician.

Looking forward, Mia aspires to work in the field of conservation and sustainability. Her passion for protecting the environment and preserving the planet for future generations drives her desire to become a marine biologist or contribute to non-government organisations focused on environmental issues.
