The Trailblazer Awards celebrates Year 11 and Year 12 students beyond their ATAR, recognising those who have overcome personal challenges and used their final year of school to positively impact their community.

Ruby is a passionate and dedicated individual who has made significant contributions to her community in the areas of environment and social justice. Her outstanding efforts and commitment have earned her recognition as the Inner West Young Citizen of The Year in 2022.

Ruby’s involvement with School Strike 4 Climate, Australian Conservation Foundation, Rainbow Club, and Amnesty International demonstrates her active engagement in promoting positive change. She played a crucial role in organising climate strikes in Sydney, with attendance ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 people, and even had the opportunity to deliver a powerful speech. Through her work, Ruby has shown a strong commitment to youth activism and advocating for greater government action on climate change.

Furthermore, Ruby’s participation in the Y NSW Youth Parliament program allowed her to contribute her insights and expertise to discussions on the Environment, Energy, and Climate Change committee. Her involvement with Save the Children’s Save the Planet Party campaign showcased her dedication to educating young people about the importance of voting with the planet in mind during the federal election.

As College Captain at Santa Sabina College, Ruby has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and organisational abilities.
