What makes Mohammed a Trailblazer?

Mohammed Ansari is a standout volunteer in his community, with years of community service work already under his belt. Over the past two years, Mohammed has worked with services helping displaced and troubled youth during the COVID pandemic and flood disasters, giving up his time to help others in his community who were struggling.

He also spent time volunteering at charity fundraising events, in addition to working on youth education programs which covered topics such as mental health and academic relief. His commitment earned him multiple leadership positions where he was responsible for engaging other volunteers, both his age and younger.

Mohammed’s work challenged him to improve on previously weak skill areas by dedicating himself to the tasks, instilling in him perseverance and a strong work ethic.

His leadership roles required him to co-ordinate events, developing organisational skills, and interacting with children and teens. Through this, he learnt how to form relationships with people of different ages and situations and different methods of problem solving.

However, his work was not without challenge. The academic stress of Year 12 made it difficult to balance his studies with his social work and part-time work at a restaurant.

Furthermore, Mohammed grappled with financial disadvantage and age barriers, having to overcome more obstacles than most in his final year of schooling. Mohammed’s drive and endurance kept him going and allowed him to continue pursuing his goals despite the hardships.

“Leadership roles…allowed myself to interact with children and teens, developing relationships and dynamics with the most effective strategies of problem solving.”

Mohammed hopes to continue his community service beyond his schooling years to build upon the positive impact he is already having in his community. He also aspires to pursue an education in a STEM-based course at university, with an ambition to pursue a career in entrepreneurship.

Mohammed’s inspiring commitment to volunteering in his community makes him more than worthy of this spot on our list of Top 50 Trailblazers!
