What makes Lucy a Trailblazer?

Lucy’s outstanding achievement in being selected for the Y NSW Youth Parliament Program showcases her passion for civic engagement and leadership.

As a member of the Business and Employment Committee, Lucy actively contributes to the creation of a bill that has the potential to become New South Wales legislation. This opportunity has allowed her to engage with local community members, listening to their concerns and working towards finding solutions. Furthermore, Lucy’s interactions with New South Wales Members of Parliament have provided a platform to advocate for her community’s issues and ensure their voices are heard.

Participating in the Youth Parliament Program has had a profound impact on Lucy’s personal development. It has enabled her to cultivate excellent public speaking skills, empowering her to address injustices and advocate for positive change within her school and community. Lucy’s ability to express her convictions and champion the causes she believes in sets her apart as a true trailblazer.

Lucy’s journey has not been without its challenges. Growing up in a rural area, she has encountered various obstacles throughout her schooling, including the disruptions caused by online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the impacts of bushfires and floods. Moreover, the shortage of teachers in New South Wales has posed significant difficulties, resulting in class cancellations and limited educational opportunities. Despite these setbacks, Lucy’s resilience and determination shine through as she strives to overcome these disadvantages and create a better future for herself and others in her community.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Lucy actively participates in extracurricular activities. In Year 11, she served as a member of the Student Representative Council and took on the role of Sports Captain for her house, showcasing her leadership skills and dedication to her school community. Lucy has also gained valuable work experience as a waitress at the Cobargo Hotel Motel, where she has honed her customer service, food preparation, and multitasking abilities.

With her commitment to business and law, as well as her exceptional work ethic and diverse skill set, Lucy Allen is poised to make a significant impact in her chosen field. Her trailblazing spirit, combined with her determination to overcome challenges and champion the causes she believes in, make her a role model for others.
