Year 7-10: How Art of Smart’s Group Classes and Bonus Weekly Tutorials Work!

At Art of Smart, we don’t just teach your child the content they need to excel, we take a holistic approach that ensures their success and wellbeing while studying in or out of the classroom.

That’s why if your child attends our Year 7-10 classes, not only will they get classes, they’ll receive access to bonus tutorial sessions when they can focus on homework help, assessments, extension work, additional revision or learn helpful study skills!

This means:

  • 1.5 hour weekly classes for their chosen subject led by expert teachers.
  • Up to three 1-hour bonus tutorials throughout the week for specific support, study skills and planning.

This way students get the best of both worlds! They build their core skills, learn their subject matter while also receiving individual, personalised support.

+ Both are available online and in-person at our Hornsby or Hills Campuses. This means no matter where you are, you can still get the same support.

But how exactly does it all work? In this article, we’ll take a deep dive into how our classes and bonus sessions are designed, what you’ll get from them and how they’ll help your child reach their full potential!

You’ll also hear from AOS student Jack and his mother Lisa about how they’ve found the sessions and how it’s benefited Jack in his academic journey!

Group Classes

Our Year 7-10 classes are designed to support students throughout the whole year with world-classed support in a collaborative learning environment.

Lessons are mapped out to coincide with student’s school curriculum to make sure they’re confident to ace their exams and assessments.

We keep our classes small to make sure that support is personal and that no student is left out.

Our Year 7-10 classes are currently available for:

  • English
  • Maths

On average, our students see a 20.7% increase in marks!

However, these are just numbers. Here are a few of the more specific benefits your child will get from our classes based on some real customer experience

Develop the Key Skills that Your Child Might Have Missed

In our Maths and English classes, we teach the key skills that students need to succeed in their respective subjects.

It’s a common story. A student concentrates at school, writes down all their content, but doesn’t see this work reflected in their results!

This is usually because they still don’t understand a core approach that they might have missed in earlier classes.

For example, Year 9 student Alex was a great English student, but he couldn’t transfer his knowledge into a physical piece of writing in the way that his teachers wanted.

His mum Lisa explains:

Essay writing skills are essential for English all the way up until HSC Exams. Luckily, by joining our classes Alex was able to get his approach down-pat early!

Whether you study Maths or English, our Year 7-10 classes have the same goal to accelerate students into the concepts that’ll prepare them in advance for Years 11 and 12.

Awesome Tutors and Peers

One of the main assets of our classes is that students get to learn from experienced and empathetic tutors!

It’s no secret that our tutors are subject content experts. Our students who attend classes at campus gave their tutors an average of 9.2/10 for overall satisfaction with their learning experience.

They’re also younger than the teachers at school and as Alex explains this has a range of benefits.

Alex says: “The advice I get from my tutor is really helpful because they’ve gone to school recently and remember exactly what it was like to be in my shoes.”

However, students don’t just learn from their tutors in group classes. According to Lisa, they also learn from each other:

Resources

As a bonus, students also receive exclusive resources to help them tackle their chosen subject!

  1. An expansive online resource library with guides, worksheets and explanations for a range of topics.
  2. A comprehensive Review Book that provides a crash course on the entire Year 7, 8, 9 or 10 courses for either English or Maths.

These resources are a great tool for studying from home, so students are never on their own while learning, even when they leave class!

Bonus Weekly Tutorials

Our group classes are specifically designed to help students build a foundational set of key skills required to ace their curriculum. However, we recognise that students need extra support with assessments, homework or other specific work that isn’t covered in these sessions. That’s why every Year 7-10 student who attends our classes also gets access to multiple bonus 1-hour tutorials throughout the week!

These tutorials complement our classes completely. Students get additional individual time with tutors to get help on whatever they’re struggling with personally.

As a parent, you can quit worrying about whether your child is doing their homework, and find comfort in the knowledge that an Art of Smart tutor is helping them through every step of the way.

Additionally, they can get help with any subject they wish! For example, Alex attended English group classes but got support for Maths and Science at his bonus weekly tutorials on numerous occasions.

So why are these tutorials helpful?

Assignment and Exam Help

For Alex, bonus tutorials were a great time to get focused help on his assignments and exams.

Students are free to inquire about problems they have with an assignment or exam that’s coming up.

Alex says: “It’s a great place to ask questions you wouldn’t normally ask in class at school.”

It’s also the #1 place for students to receive feedback on their work instead of studying blindly without knowing if what they’re producing is hitting the mark!

Reduce Stress

Getting this kind of specific support is great, but it’s merely a means to an end. The desired end result is improved marks and a massively reduced amount of stress.

Tackling a big workload is very daunting for students, especially in their younger years. Having a tutor to guide your child is the helping hand they need to alleviate anxiety and pressure.

Alex states: “I would describe the sessions as work relieving. They really helped me manage my time and workload much better.”

As Lisa explains, our bonus sessions gave Alex the confidence to approach a workload that appeared too overwhelming initially.

“I remember Alex got two big assignments due over the school holidays and we were meant to be going away on a family trip. He was out of his mind worried that he wouldn’t have time to complete them.”

“Alex went into the tutorials and worked on his assignments for an hour a day three days a week at Art of Smart. The tutors showed him where to start, what to focus on and how to break up his work.

Alex knew what he needed to do, but he was frozen because it was so overwhelming. The tutorials didn’t just give him time to concentrate on the task, they gave him the confidence to get started and stop putting it off.”

With poor mental health being a common theme for students during the HSC, our bonus tutorials can help your child nip stress in the bud early and manage their workload more effectively.

Dedicated Time to Study

For those who attend our in-person classes at our Hornsby or Hills Campuses, bonus tutorials also provide an awesome study space for students to concentrate on their work.

Alex is enrolled at our Hornsby campus, as a result, he’s able to catch the train straight from school to attend tutorials and dive headfirst into study without being distracted.

“I go to my tutorials straight from school instead of going home to a place that I associate with relaxation. This keeps my academic momentum going.”

“It’s also a really calming study environment. There’s a couple other people in my house who have their own work and school struggles, so it’s great to have a quieter place to focus on my study.”

In addition to targeted support, students get access to an environment where they can fully dedicate themselves to the study at hand.
