What makes Aya a Trailblazer?
During the HSC Aya has been working as a support worker with Achieving Goals, and Hope and Care, helping and assisting those in need. She’s spent over 780 hours in this role and making an impact on the lives of those with disabilities. Through her encounters with these individuals Aya’s desire to serve others has only grown and made her appreciate everything she has.
Completing this work in Year 12 has also taught her a lot about responsibility as she had to manage her time and ensure that she was able to meet deadlines at school. Despite the difficulties of the pandemic, and facing her own struggles with anxiety, Aya continued to support others throughout the year.
“Knowing that I was making a difference, even small, in a child’s life, warms my heart and makes me feel content.”
Aya believes her purpose lies in helping others and this desire has continued to help shape and influence her decisions for the future. She wants to continue as a social worker or as a speech pathologist – as long as her job allows her to continue helping others, she’s up for it!
