Phylogenetic Trees and Determining Relatability is a part of the VCE Biology area of study ‘How are Species Related?’ and subtopic ‘Determining Relatedness Between Species’. AÂ phylogenetic tree shows the ancestral relationship between species by looking at shared traits. They are important for finding hypothetical common ancestors. All of life is a part of a single phylogenetic tree.
