Introduction to Signal Transduction

Introduction to Signal Transduction is a part of the VCE Biology area of study ‘How do Cellular Processes Work?’ and subtopic ‘Cellular Signals’. Signal transduction is the process by which an extracellular messenger binds to a cell surface receptor. This gets translated into changes within the cell, which makes it possible for the cell to respond to the messenger. This is important in gene transcription and biochemistry.
