Determining the Least Squares Regression Line

Determining the Least Squares Regression Line is a part of the VCE Further Maths topic Data Analysis. It falls under the subtopic Investigating and Modelling Linear Associations. The least squares regression line is defined as:

  • the line that minimises the sum of all of the residual squared.

This means that it makes the vertical distance between the line and the data point as small as possible.
