Deficiencies and Malfunctions of the Immune System is a part of the VCE Biology area of study ‘How do Cells Communicate?’ and subtopic ‘Immunity’. An individuals immunity can be weakened by lifestyle choices, such as diet, smoking and alcohol. Individuals can also be born with an immune deficiency, called an immunodeficiency disease, such as AIDS. An autoimmune disease occurs when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks their own body.
