Where to Get Started
So, what’s UTS College anyway?
UTS College is part of UTS – a small, friendly college on the same campus – where you can spend your first year at uni studying a diploma course. As a stand-alone qualification, a UTS College diploma looks great on your CV (and can help you get an entry-level job in your chosen field), but that’s not all.
In most cases, when you successfully complete your course, you can fast-track to second year of a related degree at UTS*. While the learning results are just like first year at UTS, the classes are smaller (no more than 20 in a tutorial group), and students enjoy an exceptional level of support. You’ll emerge from your diploma with the skills and confidence to succeed at uni and beyond.
Why choose UTS College?
Reason #1: It’s a first year like no other
First year at university can be a game-changer. How you spend that year can set you up for everything to come.
UTS College helps you get on top of all the skills and know-how you’ll need to ace your degree. And because you can usually fast-track to second year, you can still complete your UTS degree without losing any time. Plus, you’ll graduate with an extra qualification under your belt.
Reason #2: Expert support you can tailor to your needs
The College is famous for its high level of support. Whether you’re looking for academic, career, or wellbeing support, all you need to do is ask. Someone will always have your back.
Reason #3: The flexibility to pace yourself
Maybe you want to finish your diploma and get to UTS as quickly as you can. Maybe you’d like to take your time.
You can choose to complete a UTS College diploma over 8 months (accelerated), 12 months (standard), or 16 months (extended). Just pick an option that works with your preferred pace and study load.
Reason #4: A unique way of learning
Learning.Connected, is the way teaching and learning happen at UTS College. It’s built on the latest research and backed by the College’s more than 35 years as a leader in pathway education.
A mix of in-class and independent learning, it keeps students engaged with videos, simulations, quizzes, concept checks, discussion boards, reflection, and review activities. There’s also plenty of support, with active and constant teacher feedback. It’s not just a better way to learn, it’s also more fun.
Reason #5: A clear pathway to your career
A UTS College diploma will stand out on your CV and can help you land a part-time or entry level job in the field you want to study at uni.
The College also offers CareerSmart, another great resource for tips on resume writing, interviews and more. And for paid, on-the-job experience, the student ambassador program can really kick-start your career.

POV from Some Graduates:
“I always liked talking to my teachers – about the work and about random stuff – and I really liked the studio. The final studio project was my favourite. You got to build on something for a whole semester. It was like a real, professional project. UTS College got me into university, and they were always supportive. I never felt like I didn’t understand an assignment.”
— Domestic student, Eligh Wilson, who moved on to a Bachelor of Design in Architecture after completing his Diploma of Design and Architecture at UTS College
“Before I started my diploma, I was very confused. But UTS College was amazing. It made me feel like I had much more control over my education and my career path. The teachers were great, and the College has helped me immensely.”
— Domestic student, Tishanie Ratnappuly, who moved on to a Bachelor of Communication, majoring in journalism, after completing her Diploma of Communication at UTS College
“There’s a lot of support. The teachers are all very helpful and I think they’re my best memory. They were patient enough to answer all my questions. And because the class is small – there were less than 20 people in my class – we got more one-on-one time and there were opportunities to ask questions.”
— International student, Isanne Chan, who moved on to a Bachelor of Advanced Science, majoring in Pharmaceutical Science, after completing her Diploma of Science at UTS College
