What makes Stephanie a Trailblazer?

Stephanie is an amazing role model for younger students at her school, having been prefect in both Years 11 and 12 and as a result, being highly involved in her school community. Over the last 2 years, she has spent over 600 hours volunteering!

Stephanie has been instrumental in organising fundraising initiatives, holiday events and community nights. She also volunteered to help out in the canteen and on morning car duty, as well as completing regular community service days.

But wait, it gets even more impressive!

On top of all of that, Stephanie took on the responsibility of being Head of Fresh in her senior years — a youth group for students passionate about bettering their community. In this role she was able to revitalise the program, as well as swiftly adapt to COVID-19 by transitioning operations online.

Stephanie says that she considers leadership skills to be amongst the most important when it comes to social justice.

“Serving in my community is about putting the needs of others above my own and having the courage to step out and make decisions with others’ best interests at heart. It is very important to be a conscientious leader, to set a consistently good example for my fellow school leaders, peers, and the wider community.”

Stephanie’s final years of high school have been pretty challenging. In addition to lockdowns and online learning, she also experienced family members passing away and assuming the role of carer for her injured mother. All of this made focusing and staying motivated on study very difficult.

After school, Stephanie looks forward to continuing her studies and working in the healthcare industry. She hopes to study medicine and become a general practitioner.

All of Stephanie’s amazing volunteering efforts have landed her a spot in our Top 50 Trailblazers!
