What makes Jason a Trailblazer?

When it comes to contributing to his school community, Jason has shown amazing leadership and initiative in his roles as current Prefect and Swimming Co-Captain at Sydney Boys High School. Before holding these prestigious positions, Jason has also held leadership positions as School Peer Support Leader, Peer Mentor, and Peer Mediator. He has extensive experience across a range of school sporting activities, including Water Polo, Swimming, Football and Athletics. Not only does Jason excel in his sporting achievements, but he is also dedicated to uplifting his school community through involvement in various co-curricular activities, including Junior Stage Band, Debating, Community Service Committee, Library Monitor and TEDxYouth organiser. Jason has also given back to his local community through charitable service for the Salvation Army, Starlight Foundation, White Ribbon and Centennial Park.

As part of his role as Prefect and Co-Captain of Swimming, Jason’s hardwork and determination shone through his leadership of a group of 30 swimmers from Year 7 to Year 12 in the prestigious AAGPS Swimming competition. For five Friday Nights, Jason acted as the leader of the swimming team and was responsible for providing encouragement throughout every swim meet, representing the school at functions, communicating with the Prefect body and swimming teacher on information regarding crowd support, bringing the community together and setting an example for junior swimmers. By fostering strong teamwork and motivation among the teammates, Jason’s guidance and rallying landed his school an incredible achievement of 4th place out of 8 private schools in the Junior Division!

“In my role as school Swimming Co-Captain and Prefect, I have developed strong teamwork skills. By being motivating towards teammates and enhancing the sense of school community and spirit, and ultimately building everlasting relationships, this skill is transferrable to making supportive relationships with colleagues and clients in any workplace in the future.”

After completing Year 12, Jason hopes to find a career in the finance or technology industry!

As an all-round star, Jason’s wide involvement in school affairs, extracurriculars and co-curriculars in leadership and sporting positions has made him the perfect candidate to be awarded as one of our Top 50 Trailblazers 2022!
