What makes Azra a Trailblazer?

In 2021, Azra decided she would compete in the Starlight Super Swim Challenge. With a passion for swimming and desire to help others, she committed to swimming 16 kilometres for sick children. While you might initially think about the physical impact this would have had, what stood out to her was the confidence and pride she developed participating in this challenge. As a result of Azra raising $1,068 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation she was able to provide these children with more beds and medical assistance.

Azra has additionally been an active member of her school community being a part of multiple sporting teams, and being a volunteer tutor at her school. It’s clear that whatever she does, she always makes time to help others!

She says her experience training for the swimming challenge resulted in her swimming every day for a month and brought her in contact with different individuals allowing her to adapt her communication each time. Ultimately, Azra’s packed schedule helped her improve her ability to learn how to plan and prioritise – no doubt a great skill for university!

Like many students Azra had to undergo online learning in Year 12 however her school also had a limited selection of courses available. This meant that if she was to pursue her passion for maths and take Extension 2 Mathematics this would be via distance education. The purely remote approach was one that was not ideal for Azra however in the end she wasn’t going to let anything stop her!

In the future, Azra sees herself working in business bringing in what she has learnt from assisting her family with their own business and her newfound organisational skills.

“My involvement in this charity has been the most meaningful to me as it has given me a sense of pride to be able to assist children who are struggling.“

As Azra continues to cultivate her confidence, the possibilities moving forward are endless and we can’t wait to see what she does as a Trailblazer!
