What makes Anthony a Trailblazer?

In 2021, following an extensive application process, Anthony was elected by the Hills Shire Council to be Youth Ambassador for his community. In this role he regularly volunteers in various initiatives and programs where there is a strong focus on greater opportunities for young people in his area.

A major accomplishment in this position was his establishment of the Hills Youth Army in January 2021, a leadership group for 15-24 year olds, who get involved in community projects and other social efforts. Anthony leads this group through community projects such as Harmony Day media campaign and Clean Up Australia events. The group has been a huge success, already attracting over 50 members!

Anthony has also participated in a project with Headspace Castle Hill, where he wrote and produced a video series for Mental Health Month. The series was reported by the Daily Telegraph and published on the Hills Shire social media — successfully helping spread awareness of the mental challenges faced by young people around Australia.

Anthony has acquired a lot of skills through his work in the local community. One he considers of significant importance is perseverance. Through his work as Youth Ambassador, he has learnt how to be resilient when it comes to setbacks. Not every idea gets accepted immediately — sometimes change takes a while to start and so it is important to be patient and persistent.

Year 12 was a pretty challenging year for Anthony. On top of studying for exams, performing Prefect duties and dealing with online learning, his mother’s health issues put him under a lot of emotional stress. Assuming the role of caretaker, he had to learn how to balance this new responsibility alongside juggling Year 12. He acknowledges that while it was challenging, doing this taught him valuable lessons about time management, the value of family and strong support networks.

Anthony hopes to study law after high school and hopefully work for the United Nations. He’s already had a little sneak peak of the industry, having completed work experience at his local MP’s office and being invited to State Parliament to view question time within the House of Representatives.

“It was fascinating seeing the effect of state government on communities… It has inspired my passion for social justice through legislative change.”

Anthony has a relentless passion for creating positive change within his community and tackling social injustices, because of this, he is one of our Top 50 Trailblazers!
