What makes Adam a Trailblazer?

Through acting as a Lasallian Youth Leader from 2019 to 2021 Adam has completed the Christian Mission Faith in Action Program of community service.

During Adam’s time as Youth Leader he gained exposure to the behaviours and skills necessary to make a positive influence on the education of his younger peers. During his time in this role Adam has led numerous fundraising activities and academic events with participation of up to 150 students.

Adam’s active involvement with leading Lasallian events and many social justice initiatives, he has made a significant contribution to the Catholic life at college. The completion of the Christian Mission Faith in Action Program of community service Adam has shown his resilience to overcome challenges and the importance of compassion and generosity.

As a young leader within his community Adam is committed to utilising his skills to help others. Adam is Passionate about taking an active role in his local and school community and is committed to empowering those around him to exceed their own expectations.

In addition to his role as a Lasallian Youth Leader Adam has also taken on leadership positions in multiple extracurricular academic projects hosted by De La Salle College and by universities across NSW. Through his leadership role at the Year 7 retreat, supporting school fundraising, and his role as a Youth Leader Adam has developed a strong sense of empathy for those around and the community at large.

This year has not been without its difficulties for Adam due to being situated within a local government area (LGA) of concern during the COVID-19 lockdown. The lockdown required Adam to find alternative ways to stay connected and participate within the community in a time when a lack of face-to-face interactions limited him to thrive initially.

The challenges of the last two years of multiple lockdowns and being in a LGA of concern challenged Adam to think creatively and required many adjustments to continue his engagement within the community. Through engaging in smaller cohort activities, he was able to foster his capability to traverse boundaries now and in the future.

Adam has not only balanced his final years of school with his duties as a Youth Leader but he also maintained a job at Bova Compounding from 2018-2020. His customer service role helped him to understand the importance of a team-or orientated approach and how to diplomatically resolve problems.

These skills Adam has developed through his school and his leadership in the community has him hoping to pursue a career in education as a high school English teacher.

“I believe that me becoming a Trailblazer will empower those around me to become intellectually fearless and socially connected leaders.”

And that is why Adam is a Trailblazer for 2021!
