Microevolutionary Change

This post will go through microevolutionary change for QCE Biology.

How Does Microevolutionary Change Occur?

Recall that microevolution is the change in gene frequency of a population. There are various modes in which this may occur: genetic drift and gene flow, and mutations.

This video will go through genetic drift which is essentially the act of allele frequencies changing due to events that leave non-representative samples of populations.

Gene Flow

This video will explore the relationship between gene flow (the transfer of genetic material between populations) and genetic drift.

Mutations

This video goes through mutations which are the only source that directly introduces new alleles thereby changing the allele frequency.
