What is Volumetric Analysis?
This post will be an introduction to volumetric analysis for QCE Chemistry.
3.1.7 – Volumetric Analysis
- Distinguish between the terms endpoint and equivalence point
- Recognise that acid-base titrations rely on the identification of an equivalence
point by measuring the associated change in pH, using chemical indicators or
pH meters, to reveal an observable endpoint - Mandatory practical: Acid-base titration to calculate the concentration of a
solution with reference to a standard solution.
Volumetric Analysis
This video will go through the concept of volumetric analysis.
The equivalence point occurs when there is enough quantities of both the titrant and titrate for it to neutralise. The endpoint is what you find in a titration, which is the visual representation of the equivalence point due to the change in the indicator. So, in a titration, you find the endpoint which approximates the equivalence point.
This video will go through how to set up and perform a titration.
