Indicator’s pH Range and pKa

What is the Range of an Indicator?

This post will go through indicator’s pH range and pKa for QCE Chemistry.

3.1.6 – Acid/Base Indicators

  • Explain the relationship between the pH range of an acid-base indicator and
    its pKa value
  • Recognise that indicators change colour when the pH = pKa and identify an
appropriate indicator for a titration, given equivalence point of the titration and
pH range of the indicator. (will be explained later)

How Does an Indicator Work?

An indicator is a substance that can be used to qualitatively observe the pH of a solution.

This video will go through indicators and how they work.

Relating Indicators and pKa

This video will go through relating the pKa and pH range of an indicator.
