Structure and Function of Plants

Analysing Plants’ Structure and Function

This post will investigate the structure and function of plants for Prelim Biology.

Transpiration and Translocation

Transpiration involves the loss of water from the leaves which in turn moves water up a plant. Translocation is the movement of materials (mainly sugars) from the leaves to elsewhere in a plant. This video will connect transpiration to the xylem.

This video will connect translocation to the phloem.

Transpiration-Cohesion-Tension Theory

The Transpiration-Cohesion-Tension Theory explains the pull of water upwards in a plant. This video will explain it in more depth.

Experiments to Analyse Photosynthesis and Trace Products

This video goes through an experiment to test the necessity of carbon dioxide for photosynthesis.

This video goes through the Van Helmont Experiment.
