Stationary Points & Points of Inflection

This is part of the HSC Mathematics Advanced course under the topic of Calculus: Applications of Differentiation.

In this post, we use calculus to determine and verify the nature of stationary points, find local and global maxima and minima and points of inflection (horizontal or otherwise), and examine the behaviour of a function as x approaches positive and negative infinity (\to \infty and \to −\infty) and hence sketch the graph of the function.
