How do Plants Transport Sugar and Water?
This post will go through special plant structures for Prelim Biology
Topic: Nutrient and Gas Requirements
- Investigate the function of structures in a plant, including but not limited to:
- Tracing the development and movement of the products of photosynthesis
Vascular Plant Transport Mechanism
Vascular plants are plants that have a special bundle called the vascular bundle made up of two vessels called the xylem (vessel that transports water) and phloem (vessel that transports sugar)Â that are networked throughout the plant. Vascular refers to vessels. Non-vascular plants such as mosses do not have these vessels.
This video will introduce the xylem and phloem in a little more depth.
This video will go through plant transport in the xylem and phloem.
