Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient

In HSC Standard Math, Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient ‘r’ measures the strength of a linear association. In other words, when the points on the scatterplot line up in a straight line in there is a strong linear association. The coefficient will always have a value between -1 and +1. The following videos will explain how to identify the coefficient and what that means.

How Do You Identify the Correlation Coefficient?

The following two videos explain Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient in more detail and how to identify the relationship.

Using a Calculator to Identify the Coefficient (Casio Calculator)

To find the exact number of the coefficient from a graph is impossible, fortunately, the calculator can do that for us! This video explains how to use your calculator to find the coefficient.
