Mutliplicity of roots

The multiplicity of roots is essentially determined by how many times a root occurs in a polynomial. This would be similar to saying the factor of 40 is 2 x 2 x 2 x 5; here the root ‘2’, has a multiplicity of 3. This is part of the Prelim Maths Extension 1 Syllabus from the topic Functions: Polynomials. In this post, we will explore Sums and products of roots of polynomials multiplicity of roots.

Here we will learn to determine the multiplicity of a root of a polynomial equation.
