Motions of Objects in One Dimension (Time, Distance, Displacement, Speed, Velocity, Acceleration)

How do we record, measure and calculate time, distance, displacement, speed, velocity, and acceleration?

In this post, we conduct practical investigations, to record and analyse the motion of objects in a variety of situations in one dimension in order to measure or calculate: time, distance, displacement, speed, velocity, and acceleration, as a part of the Prelim Physics course under the module Kinematics and sub-part Motion in a Straight Line.

The following to videos will tell you what distance, displacement, speed, velocity, and acceleration are, and how to can measure and calculate them through results obtained in practical investigations.

Part 1: Distance, displacement, speed and velocity

Part 2: Acceleration
