Molar Mass

Finding Molar Mass

This post will continue from the last post and go into a little more depth about molar mass for Prelim Chemistry.

Topic: Mole Concept

  • Conduct a practical investigation to demonstrate and calculate the molar mass (mass of one mole) of:
    • An element
    • A compound
  • Conduct an investigation to determine that chemicals react in simple whole-number ratios by moles

Molar Mass

Recall, molar mass is the mass of 1 mole of an atom/compounds. You calculate it by summing the individual molar masses of the elements in a compound in stoichiometry ratio, the individual molar masses can be found on the periodic table. This video will go through molar mass in a little more detail.

This video is an example of a practical for molar mass.

Whole Number Ratios in Reactions

This video will show how reactions occur with whole-number ratios with various example questions.
