Latent Heat Involved in a Change of State

What is latent heat?

In this post, we conduct an investigation to analyse qualitatively and quantitatively the latent heat involved in a change of state, as a part of the Prelim Physics course under the module Waves and Thermodynamics and sub-part Thermodynamics. Latent heat is the heat required to convert a solid into a liquid or vapour, or a liquid into a vapour, without change of temperature.

The following two videos cover specific heat and latent heat of fusion and vaporisation.

Part 1: Latent heat of fusion and vaporisation

Part 2: Latent heat of fusion and vaporisation
