Introduction to Circular Motion

This is part of the HSC Physics Syllabus Module 5: Advanced Mechanics.

Circular motion can have up to 3 components of motion. Let’s look at an introduction to circular motion. To do this, we will explore the relationships between centripetal force, mass, speed and radius.

Centrepital force is expressed by the following

F_c = \frac{mv^2}{r}
  • Fc is centrepital force
  • m is mass
  • v is velocity
  • r is radius
