Circular Forces Applications

This is part of the HSC Physics Syllabus Module 5: Advanced Mechanics.

Let’s analyse the forces acting on an object executing uniform circular motion. Some situations in which we can find uniform circular motion include:

  • Cars moving around horizontal circular bends
  • A mass on a string
  • Objects on banked tracks

Banked curves

Let’s check out an example of circulation motion on a banked curve.

Mass on a string

Here is an example of a mass on a string with a circular motion.

Examples of circular motion, banked curves and static friction

Finally, here’s examples on all of the three examples we considered above.
