Arc Length and Area of a Sector for a Circle

What is arc length and sector?

In this post, we derive the formula for arc length, l = r\theta and for the area of a sector of a circle, A = \frac{1}{2}r^{2}\theta . Arc length is the distance between two points on a circle, along the circumference, and sector is the area that is bounded between the arc and the centre point by drawing two radii at the endpoints of the arc to the centre. This is part of the Prelim Maths Advanced course, specifically focusing on arc length and area of a circle.

This video covers the formulas of arc length, sector and segment, and the theory behind the formulas.

How do I use the formula for arc length, sector and segment?

This video goes over a large number of worked examples for arc length and sector area, applying the formulas.
